Maine’s woodland-rooted indie folk storyteller – a full-time performer whose raw, atmospheric songs and soulful piano draw from basement beginnings to create intimate, evolving soundscapes that feel like a late-night fire in the Oxford woods.
From his debut EP Apartment Secrets—self-produced in a Maine basement with sharp vignettes and influences from John Mayer and Fleet Foxes—to the upcoming single “Telephone” (releasing October 11), Mike’s music traces a journey of personal evolution. What started as a saddened basement tune became a raw folk gem, enriched by Philly collaborators like Danny Black (pedal steel & harmonies from Good Old War), Adam Monaco (mandolin & bass), and a full ensemble of cello, banjo, and percussion. Tracks like “Forest Fire” (written in just 15 minutes) capture vivid emotions with an organic edge, earning nods from fans of Gregory Alan Isakov.
As a pianist, he’s headlined pre-pandemic residencies at MJ’s Wine Bar in Portland and the Kennebunkport Inn, now holding court at The Lincoln Hotel in Biddeford. Touring keys with SeepeopleS (opening for Cindy Wilson of the B-52s), he once shared a stage with Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, who declared, “You are the best keyboardist I’ve ever seen.” Leading a seven-piece band of Maine scene friends, Mike delivers tight, clear live sets that blend his folk core with collaborative fire—ego-free and exuberant.
Whether solo acoustic folk for a fireside gathering or instrumental piano for coastal elegance, Mike brings deeply soulful, recognizable songs that connect on a human level.
